“To refine, to clarify, to intensify that eternal moment in which we alone live there is but a single force—the imagination.”

My textile constructions begin with surface design on fabrics and papers using monoprinting, stamping, stenciling, drawing, painting, dyeing, fusing, and stitching techniques.
I combine these fabrics and papers into abstract compositions that reflect my fascination with dualities: the natural and the manufactured world, serendipity and design, simplicity and complexity, emotion and logic.
My initial desire is to reduce the idea for a composition to some minimal element. My simultaneous love of the decorative drives me to embellish the work with further layers of materials, marks, and stitching to create the effect of a layer of screens to accentuate or obscure what lies beneath.
My poems are observations and meditations on the objects and occurrences in my daily life. They address emotional, spiritual, and creative concerns. I occasionally collaborate with fellow poets to create dialogs of poems. This is our way of communicating some sense of the progression of moments in our daily lives.
My drawn, painted, stitched, and written lines are equivalent forms of expression—improvisational explorations of my own interior landscape.
